More About - Cornish Creams and Recycling
Here at Cornish Creams we have a very strong "green" ethic behind all that we do.
Most Cornish Creams come in two sizes, so there is no need to buy too much. The lovely Cobalt Blue Glass Jars hold 50ml, and the handy Travel Pot is 10ml. The 50ml size works out cheaper than the Travel Pots.
Recycling
Your parcel of Cornish Creams may use recycled packaging.
Glass jars can be recycled, put blue glass in the 'green' section of bottle banks.
The 100ml plastic jar is made from PET which is recyclable (where facilities exist)
Travel pots when they are empty are handy for keeping all sorts of little nick nacks safe - hooks, screws, earrings, pills, a couple of coins - you get the idea.
Recycling in Cornwall
Since 2009, Cornwall has become a Unitary Authority rather than several distinct Councils. The county is quite proactive in recycling. There is a comprehensive "doorstep" recycling scheme which is generally very well supported. Glass, paper, cardboard, plastics, tins and clothing can all easily be recycled here.
Recycling and Cornish Creams
Here at Cornish Creams we re-use what we can, packaging for instance, and local customers often return the blue glass jars to us and these can be re-used after being sterilised. Re-use is even better than recycle!
We use the Cornwall recycling facilities and are also active composters (we have a 'dalek' and a 'green johanna')
Our transport is by a small (1000cc) new-ish car (out here in the wilds, public transport is patchy) and the journey to the local Post Office for sending parcels is less than a mile, we always try to combine the mailing journey with another job to get double the value from the mileage.
Our local Post Office closes on Wednesday afternoons, but that's part of the joy of living here. If I need to post parcels on a Wednesday, I take them with me to my regular market in Callington and walk to their Post Office from there.
